Hybrid PROGRES partners meeting in Malta and online

Partners of the PROmoting GendeR Equality in Sports – PROGRES project held a hybrid Transnational Project meeting. The meeting took place in the capital of Malta, Valletta from November 29-30, and online.

Partners from the Norwegian Football Federation (NOR), Centrul FILIA (ROU), TREK Development (GRE), University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (ITA) attended the meeting live while the representatives from Football Federation of Macedonia Skopje (MKD) and the EUSA Institute (SLO) followed the meeting online. The meeting was hosted by the project coordinators - Malta Football Association. It was the opportunity for all partners to exchange ideas, present the work done and the steps to come.

The meeting agenda was fully packed for both working days. After going through the general and technical part of the project at the beginning, the meeting continued with the presentation of Gender Gap Analysis Report and discussion on development of gender mainstreaming methodologies and tools. Afternoon part was dedicated to the project’s dissemination and communication and capacity-building event for sport stakeholders on gender mainstreaming. Second day was mainly dedicated to project management and coordination and concluded with a Steering Committee meeting.

During the meeting the partners were able to hear personal stories of four speakers all connected to Maltese football: Mr Pierre Brincat, Director of Women’s Football, Ms Dorita Agius, Women’s Football Administrator, Ms Pamela Schembri, Director of Communications and Ms Martina Borg, Football player.

The overall objective of the PROGRES project is to promote gender equality, encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in the sports sector and specifically in football, by promoting gender mainstreaming within football federations and associations. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

PROGRES aims to improve the participation of women in the management and administration of football associations / federations and training employees of these organisations and stakeholders in project areas to identify the benefits of equal opportunities and adopt a gender-mainstreaming attitude promoting gender equality.
