HUSF gets creative with successful online campaign
Despite the numerous restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hungarian University Sports Federation (HUSF) was still able to reach out to their university students through the creation of a highly innovative and successful online training platform.
With many unable to access their regular sports facilities and equipment under lockdown, HUSF staff worked together to organise and offer more than 200 online training opportunities for their students, which were made in multiple languages and covered 35 different sports and 15 universities, ensuring that as many students as possible were given material from which to practise some sort of daily exercise.
The content database included professionally reviewed videos, articles and recommendations for fitness and physical activity, allowing students to keep up with the World Health Organisation’s recommendations of 150 minutes of physical activity per week to stay healthy.
The HUSF called their online campaign "Stay home, stay active! - #NotSoBored!”, with all the relevant information published on their official social media channels and their website. The National Union of Students in Hungary was also closely involved, while the recently launched UniSport Newsletter https://mozduljra.hu/unisportarchivum also greatly assisted as a channel of communication during this time.
In the latest #NotSoBored! campaign material, elements include quarantine training tips from Hungarian champions of the World University Games, with Universiade, World and European Champion fencer Andras Szatmari advising viewers on how to stay in shape at home.
In another video, Rio Olympian, World University Games athlete and multiple Hungarian national champion marathon runner Gaspar Csere’s gives a virtual running lesson, where he creates a four-week training plan for three levels of runners, including beginners, advanced and accelerators.
The "Stay home, stay active! - #NotSoBored!” campaign will continue to promote healthy living at home with ideas and tips, as well as nutrition and lifestyle counselling.
