Highly successful EUC Combat 2019 concludes in Zagreb
The 2019 EUSA Combat Sports Championship drew to a close on August 3 at Bojan Stranić Hall in Croatia’s capital Zagreb, concluding the largest championship on EUSA’s summer programme.
From July 31 to August 3, 1237 participants from 404 different universities and 36 countries participated in biggest European Universities Championship this summer, which comprised of four sports: Judo, Karate, Kickboxing and Taekwondo, which was organised with the support of EUSA's partner organisations the European Judo Union, European Karate Federation, WAKO European Kickboxing Federation and World Taekwondo Europe.
Four intense days of action, but incredible sporting spirit and sportsmanship, culminated in a final awards and Closing Ceremony at Bojan Stranic Hall, where the last of the karate athletes from the various divisions and categories were handed their medals, as well as the overall university winners of each category.
President of Croatian Academic Sports Association (HASS) Mr Zrinko Čustonja, Operational Director of the Championships Mr Nikola Vincetic and SCAC Chair and EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti addressed those in attendance, before Mr Aliti declared the Championships officially closed.

The next European Universities Championship will once again take place in Zagreb in 2021, but not before next year’s European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia, where all four Combat Sports form part of the Games’ programme.
