HASS General Assembly elects new leadership
Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF/HASS) held an electoral General Assembly on February 16, electing new members of the Executive Committee, Supervisory Boards, including the new President of the organisation.
After 16 years of professional and responsible leadership of HASS, Mr Zrinko Custonja said goodbye to the position of the President. The Assembly elected Mr Haris Pavletic, the current Vice-president of the Association, as the new President. Mr Pavletic also holds the position of the First Vice-president of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
Other memmbers of the board were also elected, with Mr Toni Gamulin as the First Vice-president, and Ms Sanja Curkovic and Mr Tonci Jerak as Vice-presidents. Mr Sasa Selmanovic, Igor Salajic and Marko Zunic were elected as members of the Executive Committee.
The new leadership presented its plans and goals for the next term, and the plan and program for 2022 were adopted at the session. Among the novelties, the UniSport Digital project was presented, which will include a new website, a mobile application and a system for registration and competition management.
The Assembly was attended and addressed by the State Secretary for Sports at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Ms Tomislak Druzak, the envoy of the President of the Republic of Croatia Mr Zeljko Jovanovic, the Rector of the University of Zagreb Mr Damir Boras and EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik.
Mr Pecovnik thanked Mr Custonja for the exemplary work and personal commitment, congratulating also the new President Mr Pavletic. HASS General Assembly was also used as the occasion to present the EUSA's 2019 awards for Most successful and Most active university in person to its Rector Mr Boras.
CASF is one of the most active members of EUSA, enabling participation of student athletes at national, European and International university sports events, and also organising them. Among others, they have hosted the European Universities Games 2016 in Zagreb-Rijeka, several European Universities Championships, and also some educational events including the EUSA Conference 2015.
