Hannover welcomes EUSA Executive Committee

Executive Committee members and staff of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) are visiting the German city of Hannover between May 28 and 31, 2015. The EUSA representatives were first welcomed in Hannover by the Organising Committee of the European Universities Rowing Championship 2015 and the German University Sports Federation (ADH).

Special reception and meeting with the participants was held on Friday by the Mayor of Hannover Mr Stefan Schostok. Mr Schostok expressed his happiness that Hannover will host the 9th edition of the European Universities Rowing Championship in the city center, offered support and praised the cooperation with the University of Hannover.

EUSA family, composed also by a few EUSA Technical Delegates, ADH representatives and university sport friends, was also welcomed by the President of the Leibniz University Hannover Mr Volker Epping. On behalf of the University he welcomed all the participants and thanked the Sport Department for coordinating the practicalities for the EUSA Executive Committee meeting and the organisation of the upcoming European Universities Rowing Championship.

EUSA President stressed the importance of the support of the City and the University, and thanked the Lord Mayor and the University President for the support and engagement in university sport, the EUSA Championship and the current meeting. Mr Roczek also presented commemorative plaquettes as a symbolic gesture of appreciation for the acknowledgement and support given to university sport and the EUSA EC meeting.

ADH President Mr Felix Arnold also greeted the EUSA participants, presenting key activities of the German University Sports Federation and the cooperation aims on international level.

On Friday, the participants were also able to enjoy the reception and the cultural programme of the opening of the traditional art and culture festival KunsFestSpiele at the Herrenhausen Gallery in Hannover.
