A conference on stopping harassment and abuse in sport was held in Madrid on December 17, as one of the last activities of the Erasmus+ project HALT on Halting Harassment and Abuse in Sports using Learning Technologies.

The conference started with a presentation of the HALT project and its main outcomes - digital game, also available through an app, movie and video clips, whistleblowing service and online community of practice.



A very interesting panel debate was the focal point of the event, with Sofia Gimenez, futsal player and survivor of sexual harassment and abuse; Natalia Flores, director of women and sport programme; Leonidas Fuster, director of communications in a NGO dedicated to helping children, victims of abuse; and Estefania Igartua, psychologist.

An open discussion followed the panel debate, in which the participants and public was also able to comment and ask questions. On behalf of EUSA, its Communications and Projects Manager Andrej Pisl attended the event, and shared the experiences at the event.



Jose Manuel Franco, State Secretary of Sport and President of the Spanish High Sports Council closed the conference, thanking the speakers and HALT partners for their work in this field.

Along the conference, the HALT project partners also met in Madrid, doing a follow-up of the project, and finalising the documentation for the final report.



HALT project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, actively contributed to the promotion of safe sport and raising awareness on harassment and abuse in sport.

Seven partners from six European countries form the consortium, lead by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - AUTH (GRE), with partners Hellenic Gymnastics Federation - EGO (GRE), European University Cyprus - EUC (CYP), Salzburg Sports Association - ASVO Salzburg (AUT), Portuguese Union of Professional Football Players - SJPF (POR), Spanish Women Futsal Players Association - AJFSF (ESP) and the European University Sports Association though its Institute - EUSA (SLO).
