Getting ready for 2nd EUC Taekwondo

On October 17, a preparation meeting for the 2nd European Universities Taekwondo Championship took place involving the Portuguese Federation of Taekwondo, the Organizing Committee and FADU Board. This meeting was held at the FADU office and it was a good opportunity to plan, within the short deadlines available, all the technical details required for a competition of this importance. The competition will be held in Braga from the 13th to 15th of December.

Pedro Almeida (FADU Treasurer), Manuel Veloso (FADU Secretary General), José Sousa (FPT President), Bruno Barracosa (FADU President), Fernando Parente (Head of Sports Department in University of Minho) and Roque Teixeira (EUC Organizing Committee)

The meeting was attended by Bruno Barracosa, FADU President, Pedro Almeida, FADU Treasurer and Manuel Veloso, FADU Secretary General, by José Luís Sousa, Portuguese Taekwondo Federation President, Fernando Parente, Head of Sports Department in University of Minho and Roque Teixeira, representing the Organizing Committee.

After the dropout from Bulgaria to organize the event, University of Minho Student’s Union saw an opportunity to support once again the development of Taekwondo.

1st European Universities Taekwondo Championship 2009

The historical context of this championship is very important given that the first edition of the European Universities Taekwondo Championship took place also in Braga back in 2009. The organization will be quite similar and the main venue will hold two mats of competition and training and warm-up area for athletes.

Technical coordination, arbitration, equipment, logistics and the outline of the competition were already established between both entities to make sure that everything is ready for the athletes when they enter the mat for their first fight.
