Get ready for #BeActive Hour

Amid the impact of lockdowns and restrictions during the current COVID-19 pandemic, a virtual #BeActive Hour has been organised for Saturday, May 30, uniting young and old across the continent in promoting healthy living.

With everyone’s health and wellbeing under strain in the current situation, and sports activities put on ice amid the Coronavirus outbreak, many people have been left isolated, detached and have experienced reduced levels of activity.

The #BeActiveAtHome campaign was thus born, backed by the European Commission, where participants from across the continent were encouraged to share their home workouts and physical activities. The European University Sports Association, as an official partner of the #BeActive campaign, was also involved in this initiative, sharing different workout videos on a weekly basis with its followers on social media.

With physical activity assisting in boosting people’s mood, reducing concerns and making people feel healthier and happier, #BeActive’s partner Europe Active have organised a #BeActive Hour to bring people together on a virtual platform to celebrate the role exercise has played during this crisis.

#BeActiveHour

People of all ages from all locations are encouraged to tune in at 17.00 CET on Saturday, May 30 for an hour of physical activity, celebrating the role that exercise has played during this crisis in keeping us healthy, active and entertained. Fitness instructors will be present online to lead various workouts, or participants can choose to perform a physical activity of their own.

The #BeActive Hour, supported by the European Commission, is a symbol of a concrete commitment to ourselves and those around us of a new normal for many of us as we begin to move into a new phase following the global pandemic.

A number of other #BeActive Hours are planned throughout the summer, helping create several moments of united – even though virtually – physical activity for participants across Europe.

Coordinators, partners, community leaders and influencers are encouraged to help spreading the #BeActive Hour message to help it reach the broadest audience possible.
