General Assembly of AZS Poland held in Warsaw

On the 22 of June, the University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) held its 30th General Assembly, in the capital city of Warsaw.

During this meeting, Prof Alojzy Nowak was re-elected on the position of President of AZS, along with the new members of the executive board.

Prof. Nowak, who is also the rector of the University of Warsaw, has been the president of AZS since 2017, and will continue his mandate for the next four years.

There have been minor reshuffles among the Vice-Presidents, with the new changes as follows:  Mr Jakub Kosowski will be responsible for Organizational Matters, Mr Maciej Hartfil will be responsible for Professional Sports, Mr Tomasz Wróbel will be responsible for General Sports, Mr Adam Roczek will be responsible for international affairs, Mr Jacek Kasprzyk will be responsible for Finances, Ms Marta Dalecka will be responsible for matters of sports for people with disabilities, and Mr Mariusz Walczak will continue to be Vice-President for Development.

The management board also included Mr Krzysztof Wilde, Mr Andrzej Hrehorowicz, Mr Paweł Potoczek, Mr Adam Zając, Ms Marta Gębala, Mr Piotr Marszal and Ms Aleksandra Leszczyńska, who were recommended by individual boards. The main board members included Mr Rafał Jachimiak, Mr Tomasz Aftański, Mr Artur Słomka, Ms Katarzyna Domańska, Mr Rafał Walczyk, Mr Olaf Weker, Mr Piotr Walczak, Mr Aleksander Fangor, Mr Jarosław Jakubski, Mr Paweł Markiewicz, Mr Jacek Kiełb, Mr Janusz Zieliński, Mr Daniel Bukalski, Mr Marek Konopczyński,Mr Michał Spieszny, Mr Grzegorz Captain and Mr Krzysztof Pszczółka.

The management board will also include a representative of the International Student Sports Federation (FISU), Mr Marian Dymalski, and the Secretary General of AZS, who will be elected at the first meeting of the management board. The 30th General Assembly of the University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) also honoured 71 athletes with medals, as well as  seventeen people the title of Honorary Member of AZS.

The University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) is the largest sports association in Poland, operating continuously for over a century. AZS was established in Krakow in 1909 and currently has approximately 42,000 members. AZS is a member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
