General Assembly, Gala and Conference in Sweden

The Swedish University Sports Federation (SAIF) had its General Assembly from October 25th to 26th in Lund, Sweden.

The Assembly was well attended and Mr Sture Espwall was re-elected President for his second term of office, until 2016.

During the gala dinner, the Swedish University Sports Awards were announced. The awards were presented by Mr Stefan Bergh, Vice President of FISU; Sture Espwall, SAIF President; Josef Ahman, SAIF Secretary General.

The international award was given to the men’s Swedish curling team, who won the gold medal at the 2013 Vinter Universiade in Trentino.

A special award was given to Mr Erwin Apitzsch for his commitment to university sports and his time in the board for the last 40 years. Mr Apitzsch was re-elected to the board for another term.

In connection to the Assembly, SAIF also held a seminar where the participants could learn more about communication, how to attract members etc. As usual, there was a slot for physical training.
