GALA University Sport Stars in Russia
On November 15th, the Russian Students Sport Union (RSSU) and Russian Dance Sport Union supported by the Moscow Government and Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, organized the Gala “University Sport Stars” – celebratory event in honour of RSSU 20th anniversary. 
 
The ceremony was attended by the heads of the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Russian Olympic Committee, President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), Presidents of the Russian sports federations, the winners of the World Summer and Winter Universiade, the best students - winners of the national students competitions, the rector's community and students leagues, the Organizing Committee of the XXVII World summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan and the Bid Committee XXIX World Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk.

At the beginning of the Gala, the President of Russian Federation Mr Vladimir Putin delivered a speech via video address. Participants were also welcomed by the Secretary of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport Mr Aleksey Kulakovsky; Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Mrs Natalya Parshikova; the President of the European University Sports Association Mr Adam Roczek; First Vice-President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Vice-President of EUSA and the President of RSSU Mr. Oleg Matytsin.

During the ceremony special prizes “Burevestnik” were awarded to the best student-athletes, National sports federation, universities, state authorities, public organizations that have made significant contribution to development and promotion of the university sports in Russia.

"Legends of the University Sports " Awards were given to the first Chairman of the Soviet Union Student Sports Society "Burevestnik", the former FISU First Vice-President Mr Yury Parfenov; President of the International Confederation of Sport Organizations, the former FISU First Vice-President Mr Boris Rogatin, the first President of the Russian Students Sport Union (1993 - 2005) Mr Alexey Kiselev (award received by his son on his behalf).

For contribution to the development of the international university sports movement the highest FISU awards Jean Petitjean medal was awarded to Mr Yury Parfenov and Mr Boris Rogatin.

Flag relay
 
One of the highlights of the Gala has become a symbolic flag relay from Kazan, the host city of the XXVII Summer Universiade to the city of Krasnoyarsk, host city of the XXIX Winter Universiade.
