Friendship Games 2014 Concluded

The 9th edition of The Friendship Games was held under the slogan "7 Days to Experience, a Lifetime to Remember," in Eilat, Israel between June 10 and 17, 2014.

 

Some 250 participants from Croatia, Lithuania, Germany, USA, Jordan, Israel, with Christian, Muslim, Palestinians as well as Arab and Jewish participants took part in the competitions and in cultural and social events.

Women's winning team: Liberty University from Virginia, USA

 

This year, 18 teams took part in Men's and Women's tournaments. Although the competition is not the main focus of the event, the champions in the end were the Liberty University from Virginia, USA in women's division and Kaunas University from Lithuania in men's.

The Opening Ceremony took place in the desert near Eilat and the Closing Ceremony took place in the Dolphin Reef on the Red Sea. Everyone took part in a tour to Jerusalem and Dead Sea, enjoying these magnificent sights together.

Once again the success of the games showed how sport can be a catalyst in bringing together people from many different countries, religions and political situations.



 

The event was organised by ASA - Academic Sport Association Israel and Tel Aviv University Sports Club, under the patronage of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the International University Sports Federation (FISU), in cooperation with other partners.
