Former EUSA Executive Committee member receives important recognition

At the XVIII National Congress of Sports Management held in the Portuguese City of Viseu on November 23 and 24, the title of "Sports Manager of the Year 2017" was awarded to Mr Fernando Parente, current Executive Committee member of FISU and former Executive Committee member of EUSA.

Mr Parente serves as Director of the Sports and Cultural Department of the University of Minho, and he received the award for the quality of the work in university sports in Portugal and also in terms of national sports development.

In 2016, the prize was awarded to Mr Fernando Gomes, President of the Portuguese Football Federation, UEFA Vice President and FIFA Council member. This year, the Portuguese Association of Sports Management (APOGESD) recognized the career and the activity in the management and organization of the sport developed by Mr Parente for almost 30 years. During this time, several events, including European Universities Championships were organised with his involvement.

Organized by APOGESD, this 18th edition of the Congress was themed Sport in the Cities of the Future, an emerging and most important issue at a time when cities are faced by environmental challenges.
