Preliminary first stage matches in basketball, football and volleyball for men and women started in Rotterdam today, within the European Universities Games - EUGames2014.

Several sports venues are hosting the competitions in Rotterdam, and the competition schedule is busy. In Volleyball, 6 matches were played today in men's category, and 5 matches in women's category. Also in Football, male teams played 6 matches today, and women 3. The number of matches in Basketball is more even, with 4 matches being played in men's and women's category.

General Technical Meeting for Badminton was held today, announcing the start of the competitions in this sport in the next day.


 

Today, on August 2, the participants also had the chance to enjoy major fun events in Rotterdam and vicinity - the Boothstock festival was held in Rotterdam and the Canal Parade in Amsterdam.
