FISU World University Championships 2016 started

FISU World University Championships 2016 started

International University Sports Federation (FISU) started their season of World University Championships in February. The first one to be held was the FISU World University Ski Orienteering Championship, held in Tula, Russia between February 10 and 16, 2016.

The event was not only the kick-off of the Championships for 2016, but also the first ever FISU World University Champions in Ski Orienteering. During the four competition days races took place in sprint, pursuit, mixed relay and mass start.

Competitions

All events had live online streaming and the participants representing 12 countries were able to enjoy the high level of competition, with excellent conditions and professional organisational support.

Present at the event were also the President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Mr Oleg Matytsin and President of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) Mr Brian Porteous.

Closing of the event and flag passing

FISU World University Championships continue in March and will conclude in December. No less than 34 Championships will be held this year, 19 of them in Europe.
