FISU scholarships awarded

FISU, the International University Sports Federation has announced that the 2012 FISU-Daegu Scholarship Programme has come to its final phase and that the recipients have been chosen.

This programme was initiated in 2009 as a legacy of the 2003 Daegu Summer Universiade (Republic of Korea) by the Metropolitan City of Daegu in close cooperation with FISU. Its main aim is to encourage young people and propel their academic and sports careers. The current edition was launched by FISU last October by inviting its members to put forward candidates and submit them to Continental university sports bodies.

Further to the agreement reached with the initiators of the programme, we are delighted to announce that the three recipients of the second edition of the Daegu 2003-FISU Scholarship are:

- Karolina Naja, Poland; proposed by the European University Sports Association (EUSA)

- Yevgeniy Ektov, Kazakhstan; proposed by the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF)

- Amaka Gessler, New Zealand; proposed by the Oceania University Sports Association (OUSA)
