FISU President receives Sport Solidarity Award

On December 19, the Russian National Sports Awards ceremony took place at the Ministry of Sport of Russia in Moscow. The ceremony was by attended by a number of renowned figures from the world of sports, including the Russian Sports Minister and former Olympic fencing champion Mr Pavel Kolobkov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee Mr Alexander Zhukov, former Olympic Champions Ms Irina Rodnina, Mr Alexander Karelin, Ms Svetlana Khorkina, Ms Alexey Nemov and others.

The President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Mr Oleg Matytsin received the award for enhancing international sports relations in the Sports Solidarity category. Thanking the organisers, Mr Matytsin stressed the importance and the growing role of university sports in both Russia and on the international stage.

Awards recipients
