FISU Executive Committee meets in Torino
The Executive Committee of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) met in Torino on January 11 and 12, ahead of the Winter edition of the FISU World University Games, which are due to officially kick off today, January 13.
The start of the visit of Piemonte for FISU EC members was a two-day hub of discussions, presentations, updates, and working groups.
FISU’s new Secretary General and CEO, Matthias Remund, used the occasion of the EC meeting and the Winter University Games to meet many representatives of the university sport world and other important stakeholders, receiving a warm and enthusiastic welcome.
Reports from the Torino 2025 organizing committee, FISU Winter Department, FISU’s Summer Department, and the event reports of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games were presented before the EC Members broke into working groups to discuss certain topics more intensely.
On 12th of January, accredited journalists and photographers had gathered in the beautiful “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory for the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games‘ Opening Press Conference. The Press Conference was the occasion for official representatives from the Piemonte region, the city of Torino, the International University Sports Federation, the Torino 2025 Organising Committee as well as FederCusi and CUS Torino to address the crowd, listen to impressive musical performances by young musicians and the testimonies from three student-athletes about to perform on the Piemonte snow and ice.
The Torino 2025 FISU World University Games will take place from 13-23 January, with the official Opening Ceremony being scheduled for today.
