FISU EC Meeting in Lausanne
From May 25-28, 2011 the FISU Executive Committee Meeting was held in Lausanne, Switzerland. A day prior to the meeting, the FISU committees held work sessions. EUSA President Mr Alberto Gualtieri and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik were present on the Development Committee (CDSU) Meeting where they presented the progress report on the projects financially supported by FISU.
The first day of the Executive Committee Meeting started with the reports from FISU President Mr Killian, Treasurer Mr Bayasgalan, Internal Auditor Mr Gagea and the Secretary General Mr Saintrond. Mr Bergh, Chair of the CDSU presented an overview of the projects of the different Continental Associations, as well of the FISU membership development. The report was given also by Mrs. Burk, Chair of the Women’s Committee. After, the 2011 Universiade host Shenzhen presented its progress report.
In the evening the EC members attended the inauguration of the fourth building of the Maison du Sport Internationale (MSI), where the FISU Lausanne Office will occupy the third floor. The guests of the inauguration were welcomed by the International Olympic Committee President Mr Rogge.
The second day session started with the report from the Press Committee Chair Mr Eder. After, the Educational Department presented its report. Mr. Gallien gave an update on the 2011 FISU Conference Shenzhen, the 2012 FISU Forum in Chinese Taipei, the FISU International Education Center in Kazan and the 2013 Rector’s Forum that will be held in Umea, Sweden. Mr Roczek, Acting Chair of the Committee of Regulations presented its report on some changes in the sport technical regulations of the FISU sport events. The day ended with the progress report of the 2013 Winter Universiade in Maribor.
The last day of the Executive Committee Meeting in Lausanne started with the final report of the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum and the progress report of the 2013 Universiade to be held from July 6-17, 2013 in Kazan. Also the 2015 Winter Universiade Granada and Summer Universiade Gwangju Organising Committees presented their reports. FISU Assessors Mr Kim and Mr Dias presented the recipients of the 2010 FISU Scholarship program.
The report on the World University Championships was presented by Mr Jasnic, CTI WUC Chair and his team. The following 2012 WUC were attributed: Waterski (Santiago, CHI), 3-on-3 Basketball (Kragujevac, SRB) and Netball (Cape Town, RSA). The organisers chosen for 2014 were: Archery (Louvain-la-neuve, BEL), Beach Volleyball (Porto, POR), Handball (Braga & Guimaraes, POR), Futsal (Malaga, ESP), Golf (Crans-Montana, SUI), Orienteering (Olomouc, CZE), Rugby 7 (Vitoria, BRA), 3-on-3 Basketball (Salvador, BRA), Wrestling (Pecs, HUN). The FISU EC Meeting closed with a farewell dinner hosted by the Swiss University Sport Federation.
