FISU attributed the 2013 universiades
On May 31st, the FISU Executive Committee attributed the 2013 Winter and Summer Universiades in Brussels, Belgium, home of the FISU Headquarters. The ceremony took place at 8 pm at the Theatre of the Plaza Hotel in the city centre, and during the day, the candidate cities had the opportunity to deliver their final presentation.

Three cities applied for the organization of the 2013 Summer Universiade: Kazan (Russia), Gwangju (Korea) and Vigo (Spain). For the Winter Universiade there was only the City of Maribor (Slovenia) after the withdrawal of Almaty (Kazakhstan).

The FISU EC finally decided: Maribor, Slovenia will host of the 2013 Winter Universiade and Kazan, Russia will host the 2013 Summer Universiade.

We are very proud of the fact that both candidatures which were chosen for the 2013 universiades were submitted by our member Federations - Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA) and the Russian Students Sport Union (RSSU). Our sincere congratulation to both!
