FISU at the 2014 SportAccord Convention

The 12th SportAccord Annual General Meeting and International Convention was held between April 6 and 11 in Belek-Antalya, Turkey. The event is a gathering of leading representatives from the sport industry, offering participants opportunity to come together on a global scale, network environment, build relationships, share knowledge and develop ideas benefitting  the international sports community.

 

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) also attended the convention. This edition attracted over 1600 attendees from almost 80 countries around the world, representing international sport federations and organisations, organisers of large multi-sport events, suppliers and delegates of cities and regions, all related to and interested in sport and sporting events.

The FISU delegation was lead by Mr Eric Saintrond, Secretary General, accompanied by sports directors Mr Marc Vandenplas, Summer Universiade Director and Mr Paulo Ferreira, World University Championships Director, together with Media and Communications Director Mr Dejan Susovic. The FISU booth was shared with delegates from the 2017 Almaty Winter Universiade OC.

Several meetings were held with international sport federations, some seeking to join the FISU sports programme and others to sign the join collaboration conventions FISU is undertaking with its partners. The signing was done with World Archery Federation (WA), World Chess Federation (FIDE), Badminton World Federation (BWF), International Orienteering Federation (IOF), IOF Ski Orienteeting Athletes’ Commission, International Tennis Federation (ITF), International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF), International Netball Federation (INF), World Bridge Federation (WBF), International American Football Federation (IFAF), and the International Judo Federation (IJF).
