FISU announces 2020 World University Championships

Following a year of bidding procedures and official bid presentations in Lausanne this October, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) announced the hosts for the 29th season of World University Championships in 2020. A total of 36 candidate cities presented dossiers for the 26 events available.

Events will take place in America, Europe, Africa and Asia. European University Sports Association (EUSA) is proud to see that 19 events will be held in Europe, organised by the national university sport bodies (FISU and EUSA member organisations). In 2020, FISU is introducing new cluster events – mind sports and combat sports, respectively combining two and six sports.
