FISU America's Congress of Presidents and Strategic Dialogue

The first Congress of Presidents and Strategic Dialogue between FISU and FISU America took place on October 19-21 in Goiania, Brazil. The event was attended by the highest representatives of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Pan-American University Sports Federation (FISU America) and its members.

FISU President Mr Oleg Matytsin was joined by FISU First Vice President Mr Leonz Eder, FISU Vice President Mr Luciano Cabral (who is also CSDU President), FISU Development and NUSF Relations Director Laurent Briel and FISU Executive Committee Member Ms Rosaura Mendez Gamboa. FISU America representatives included the President Mr Alim Maluf Neto, Vice President Mr Manuel Merodio, General Secretary Mr Sandy Rodriguez, Treasurer Mr Emiliano Ojea, Advisor Ms America Alvarado, ODUCC President Mr Gerardo Corrales and COSUD President Mr Daniel Munoz.

In addition to the FISU and FISU America leadership, 14 countries from the North and South America were represented: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Participants

The meeting had two main points of discussion; one centered on the strategic dialogue for the upcoming 10-year development plan, while the other focused on the programming of FISU America Events for 2018 which will include sports and educational events. "The strategic dialogue was a great success," FISU America President said after two days of discussions and conferences. "We managed to fulfil all the objectives we had planned, having a very close contact with the FISU President to work on the global development plan for university sports."

Days before the event, FISU America Executive Committee members also has their meeting in Brazil, attending also the Opening Ceremony of the 65th national university games of Brazil.
