FISU America General Assembly 2021
FISU America held its 12th General Assembly on November 19, 2021. The event took place in hybrid mode - in person in Yucatan and online, with participation of 21 countries in the Americas and with the representation of International University Sports Federation (FISU), European University Sports Association (EUSA), FISU Oceania and Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF).
EUSA was represented at the meeting by its Executive Committee Member, Mr Aitor Canibe Sanchez.
The event started with the welcome speeches by FISU AMERICA President Mr Alim Maluf Neto and FISU Acting President Mr Leonz Eder. Reports from the period 2019 -2021 were presented by the FISU America President, Secretary General Ms America Alvarado and Treasurer Ms Ines Gomez, highlighting the general information in the period, sports program as well as the financial part and accounts.
The participants also heard reports from the organising committees of the FISU America sports events planned for 2022: 3x3 Basketball: Lima, Peru; Futsal: Sao Luis, Brazil; FISU America Games: Merida, Mexico; Rugby: La Plata, Argentina.
Mr Maluf Neto also noted the extraordinary efforts taken by organizing committees of those events in such unprecedented circumstances. Later on, Ms Rosaura Mendez presented the FISU World Forum 2022, and the importance in supporting all countries and international members to participate in this great event. It will be held in Costa Rica on 8-12 April 2022, aiming to tackle issues such as health and well-being, quality of education, gender equality and the reduction of inequalities. National and Continental University Sports Federations can register their participants through FISU’s accreditation portal.
