First in-person edition of the 'eFADU Nationals' event
The first National University Championships of Esports/Gaming, called eFADU Nationals, took place from June 8th to 11th in Maia, Portugal.
The event was held in person and featured competitions in FIFA, VALORANT, League of Legends, and CS:GO, with the participation of over 170 student-athletes from various portuguese higher education institutions.
In addition to the competitions, the four-day event included talks by some of the most well-known portuguese gamers, such as Diogo da Silva 'Movemind' and João Oliveira 'JOliveira10', as well as the presence of cosplayers and ambassadors Leo and Sara 'ymna'. The competition was hosted by the streamer Alexandre 'Archarom' Maia.
In this first edition, admission was free and attendees had access to areas with simulators, virtual reality experiences, and free-to-play gaming stations, with approximately 50 gaming stations available, as well as state-of-the-art consoles for trying out the latest video games. There was also a dedicated area for retro gaming.
Mr Ricardo Nora, president of FADU Portugal, said: ‘We are thrilled to organize this event, which is being held in person for the first time. Over the years, FADU has always worked with innovation whenever possible to cater to the new generation of students. The integration of Esports events into our competition portfolio is proof of that. The challenge was presented to us by our students and clubs, and our response could only be positive. It was a pioneering and memorable event!’.
