First Greek National University Kickboxing Championship
On 12th November 2014 the first Greek National University Kickboxing Championship was held in the indoor stadium of the University of Athens.
The championship was organized by Pan-Hellenic Kickboxing Federation with the rules of World Association of Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO), in collaboration with the Sports Commission of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education and Sports and Hellenic Committee for University Sport (EATE).
This is a very important step for the sport of Kick-Boxing in Greece as it is the first non-Olympic sport which enters into the academic matches. All styles of the sport (Low Kick, Full Contact, K-1 Rules, Light Contact, Kick Light, and Point Fighting) were featured and the number of the participants had exceeded 120 athletes from several Greek universities, which is a very strong number for the first championship of this kind.
Moreover, with the collaboration between the partners, any student in the universities who is interested in Kick-boxing will be able to practice it. Also, in national university championship for other sports, demonstration fights will be featured as promotional activities.
