First General Technical Meetings

Tuesday, July 22, saw the first General Technical Meetings of the European Universities Games Rotterdam 2014, starting with Futsal and Handball. The Campus is also filling up, with over 1000 participants already present.

 

The General Technical Meetings (GTM) are held in presence of representatives of all teams participating in a particular sport and consist of the general presentation, sports rules and regulations, confirming the participating teams and competition format, delivery of the sports’ technical handbooks and conclude with a public draw of the teams.

Futsal GTM was held first; at the EUGames in Rotterdam there are 24 men’s university teams and 12 women’s. Futsal represents one of the most popular sports within the EUSA programme. The Futsal matches will be held between July 23 and 29 in Topsportcenter Rotterdam and the Erasmus Sport center in Rotterdam.

The meeting was followed by the Handball GTM. Sportscenter Schuttersveld and Sports hall Kralingen will be the venues of the competitions for handball. The importance and strong cooperation and partnership with the European Handball Federation (EHF) was specifically pointed out, and the referee clinics prepared in cooperation of EUSA, EHF and the Organisers.
