Fireworks on final day of EUC Futsal 2019
The 2019 European Universities Futsal Championship drew to a close on July 23 with a thrilling round of final matches and an exciting Closing Ceremony at the Sports Complex of University of Minho.
Over 450 participants representing 26 Universities from 12 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event, the 12th in EUSA’s history.
In men’s finals, University of Málaga from Spain who were crowned champions after their 5-1 victory over Karazin Kharkiv National University from Ukraine.
It was a double victory for Spain as University of Múrcia claimed the gold medal in the women’s competition after a 3-1 win against Germany’s University of Munster.
The medals and awards were presented by Mr Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, Minister of Education of Portugal; Mr Rui Vieira de Castro, Rector of University of Minho; Ms Sameiro Araújo, Councilor of the Sport of Braga City Hall and Mr Hovhannes Gabrielyan, Representative of the President of EUSA.

Special Awards - Women
The women’s Fair Play Award was given to University of Porto from Portugal. The award was presented by Mr António Paisana, Administrator of University of Minho Social Services.
Mr Daniel Monteiro, President of the Portuguese University of Sports Fedaration, presented the Best Goalkeeper Award to Ms Ana Garde, from the University of Murcia.
The Top Goal Scorer Award was won by Ms Anna Shulla from National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, who received the award from Mr Nuno Reis, President of the Organising Committee.
The Most Valuable Player Award was won by University of Murcia’s Ms Elisabet Bonet, who received the award from EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Tomasz Aftanski.
Completing the All-Star Team in the Female Competition was Ms Tomislava Matijevic from University of Zagreb and Ms Zaliia Gazimova from Ural Federal University, who received their awards from MrNuno Reis, President of the Organising Committee and Mr Tomasz Aftanski, EUSA Technical Delegate.
Special Awards – Men
The Fair-Play Award was given to University of Kiel from Germany, with the award presented by Mr António Paisana, Administrator of University of Minho Social Services.
University of Malaga’s Mr Gonzalo Ruiz was presented with the Best Goalkeeper Award by Mr Daniel Monteiro, President of the Portuguese University of Sports Fedaration.
The Top Goal Scorer Award was earned by Mr Miguel Fernandez from University of Malaga, who received his award from Mr Nuno Reis, President of the Organising Committee.
The Most Valuable Player was given to Jvarashvili Vakhtangi from Tbilisi State University. The award was presented by EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Tomasz Aftanski.
Completing the Male All Star Team was Mr João Abreu from University of Minho and Mr Yaroslav Lebid from Karazin Kharkiv National University. Their awards were presented by Mr Nuno Reis, President of the Organising Committee and Mr Tomasz Aftanski, EUSA Technical Delegate.
After the awards ceremony, the EUSA flag was passed to Mr Toni Batinic, President of Organising Committee of EUC Futsal Split 2021.
