Final preparations underway for 2020 FISU World Forum

Final preparations are in full swing for this year’s 2020 FISU World Forum, which will take on a somewhat different format this year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 FISU World Forum, organised with the support the Hungarian University Sports Association and the University of Physical Education in Budapest, will be held online from August 12-14.

“Every two years, the FISU World Forum offers an opportunity for the entire FISU Family to gather and to exchange ideas, contacts, and good practices in the field of university sports,” said Ms Verena Burk, Chair of the FISU Education Committee. “Despite this year’s situation worldwide, I am pleased that the FISU World Forum will be hosted digitally. This pioneering event organised by FISU, the Hungarian University Sports Federation as well as the University of Physical Education of Budapest will allow students, officials and other partners involved in the University Sports Movement to share their respective vision and experiences.”

The aim of the Forum is to provide a platform that offers discussion and exchange of views and opinions at international level for students and officials of National University Sports Associations, where good practices and ideas can be exchanged and developed.

This year’s Forum will include keynote speeches and panel discussions with interesting guests, interactive workshops, joint online sports activities and a virtual expo, giving participants a full experience despite the physical distance.

With a large student focus, the Forum will also involve a student project, where registered students who complete the project management learning stream will receive various tips on how to develop and run a project, before presenting their projects at the plenary.

Reorganising the Forum online has come with its own challenges, but also positives as well, with the number of participants from each national university sport association no longer limited, while the online platform allows a greater reach with a larger audience from across the globe able to virtually attend.
