FASU General Assembly and Strategic Dialogue held in Egypt

Over an exciting few days, Cairo welcomed the FASU General Assembly and the FISU-FASU Strategic Dialogue, bringing together university sports leaders from across the continents.
The February 20–25, 2025, events hosted delegations from 20+ nations, and special guests, including EUSA President, Adam Roczek, and Secretary General, Matjaz Pecovnik.
The program started with the FASU Executive Committee Meeting at New Giza University, where key stakeholders came together for meaningful discussions on improving governance, setting strategic priorities, and shaping policies to strengthen university sports across Africa.
Next up was an exciting tour of the amazing sports facilities and a visit to the Egypt International Olympic City in the New Administrative Capital, showcasing Egypt’s dedication to building world-class sporting infrastructure. A highlight of the trip was the grand opening of the FASU Cairo Office at the British University in Egypt (BUE).
The program continued with the FISU Healthy Campus Seminar, a lively forum focused on bringing health, wellness, and physical activity into campus life—essential for fostering both academic and athletic success. There was also a high-level FISU-FASU strategic dialogue that offered a fantastic opportunity for leaders and experts to explore ways to tackle new challenges and seize opportunities together.
Discussions on how to weave sports into educational policies, harness innovative technologies, and promote sustainable development were part of the dialogue, to which EUSA President, Adam Roczek contributed as a speaker.
Adding to the cultural richness of the event, the Ministry of Youth and Sports organised a sightseeing tour that included visits to the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Panorama area, and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The series of events wrapped up with the FASU General Assembly Meeting at Badr University in Cairo, where delegates from participating nations came together to share their insights, review strategic goals, and outline a clear agenda for the future.
Alongside the FASU General Assembly and FISU-FASU strategic dialogue, several meetings were held with local authorities and university representatives.
Delegates had the privilege of meeting Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbuli, Deputy Prime Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohamed Ayman Ashour.
These discussions focused on promoting international cooperation and strengthening partnerships among sporting bodies to create sustainable sports structures.
