FASU GA elects new Board

The General Assembly of the Federation of African University Sports – FASU has elected a new board on the second day of the meeting in Kampala, Uganda. The delegates present had a long working session that concluded late in the evening with the election of the 5 members that will head the Federation for the coming 4 years.

The new President, Malumbete Michael Ralethe (RSA), expressed his thanks and set out his thoughts for FASU during the coming years, stressing the importance of communication across the continent as a key challenge for his mandate. Leopold Senghor (SEN) was elected as 1st Vice President and Jacob Nteere (KEN) as 2nd Vice President. Penninah Kabenge (UGA), will assume the role of General Secretary. The new board is completed by the Assistant General Secretary Boubacar Gansore (BUR), and Internal auditor Ernest Awanta (GHA).

 

New FASU board with FISU delegates

The General Assembly applauded the new endorsed board, having previously thanked the outgoing president Hassan CHIKH and all of his team members. During the election, the General Assembly was Chaired by FISU Vice President Stefan Bergh.

On behalf of the President of EUSA  Mr Albrto Gualtieri, Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and the rest of the Executive Committee members, EUSA congratulates the new board for their election, and wish them best of luck in their tasks. EUSA is interested in continuing the fruitful cooperation of the two continents, which was also demonstrated by the presence of high EUSA representatives at the FASU Assembly in Kampala, including the President Mr Alberto Gualtieri, EUSA Vice President Sinisa Jasnic (SRB), EUSA Treasurer Leonz Eder (SUI), and several FISU board members from Europe.
