FASU anniversary panel on the future of university sport
Within the framework of the anniversary celebrations of the Federation of African University Sports (FASU), a panel entitled 50 Years ahead, The University Sports Legacy I want to see, was held online on November 10.
Moderated by Ms Chidiebere Ezeani, graduate of the FISU Young Reporters Programme, the event gathered speakers from the leadership of the university sport organisations across the world, including the Acting President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Mr Leoz Eder, President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Mr Adam Roczek, President of FISU Oceania Mr David Schmude, President of Asian University Sport Federation (AUSF) Mr Yanqing Xue and FASU President Ms Nomsa Mahlangu.
The discussion addressed several questions, including how the university sports should be built in different continents, how can FISU facilitate participation in university sports, how to increase equality in sports participation and administration, the need of building partnerships and how to ensure a cultural diversity in university sport events.
FASU anniversary celebrations will continue online already on November 20 with a cultural webinar, open to everyone to attend. A variety of other events have already been carried out and some are still ahead in the commemorative celebrations.
