FADU Portugal elects board for 2024-2025 term
Portugal University Sports Federation (FADU) held elections for its governing bodies this Tuesday, October 15, for the 2024-2025 term.
The elections were attended by the active participation of academic and student associations from all over the country, who exercised their right to vote to elect the representatives who will lead the federation in the next cycle of governance.
With only one list up for election (List A), led by the current President, Mr Ricardo Nora, the Electoral Assembly took place normally and without disruptions throughout the day.
On this General Assembly, Mr Ricardo Nora was re-elected on the position of President of FADU for the term 2024-2025.
Mr Ricardo Nora stated some of the priorities for the next term: "After two years of leading this structure that regulates and organizes university sports, I feel that there is still a contribution to be made to FADU and that there is still work to be done. Bringing FADU ever closer to Student Associations and Higher Education Institutions, greater accessibility at all levels of sports practice in higher education and greater capitalization of the public and funding for the sector must be some of the priorities.”
The inauguration of the elected officials is scheduled for early November 2024, marking the beginning of a new cycle of activities and projects focused on the development and promotion of university sports in Portugal.
The new management has the challenge of continuing to strengthen FADU's role as an entity responsible for promoting sport in academic circles, with special attention to organizing competitions, promoting inclusive initiatives and strategic partnerships, both nationally and internationally.
