Members of the European Commission's Expert Group on Skills and Human Resources Development in Sport met for on online meeting on Friday, June 19.

This was the final meeting of the group within the current EU Work Plan for Sport (2017-2020). The members of the group are representatives of EU member states and experts from invited organisations, including the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

On behalf of the European Commission, Mr Yves Le Lostecque, Head of the Sport Unit welcomed the participants and presented an update from the Commission. Mr Le Lostecque was joined by Ms Agata Dziarnowska, Policy Officer, in giving an overview of the achievements of the expert group and the way forward. An update from the Croatian Presidency and views from an expert followed before the discussion was opened. EUSA was represented at the meeting by Mr Andrej Pisl, Communications and Projects Manager.



In its mandate, the group focused on three main fields of work - coach education, qualifications and skills, and dual career - and met on six occasions. The meetings in Bath (GBR), Split (CRO), Salzburg (AUT), Lisbon (POR) and Trento (ITA) were followed by Friday’s virtual meeting. During this period, the group exchanged good practices and experiences, held discussions on the main fields of work, worked on preparing publications and did study visits.

Main outcomes of the working group were gaining and sharing knowledge, enhancing cooperation between stakeholders, establishing a network of experts in the field, and publishing a document on coach education entitled "Guidelines regarding the minimum requirements in skills and competences for coaches".



EUSA is very proud to be able to serve for the second mandate in the expert group and contribute to the development of Sport in the European Union.
