EVS on-arrival training

EVS on-arrival training
Mr Loic Etienne, the European Volunteer Service (EVS) volunteer and project assistant in the European University Sports Association (EUSA) participated in EVS on-arrival training in Bled, Slovenia between October 14 and 18, 2013.

This training was divided into several parts, consisting of teambuilding activities, creative project day, working in small groups and presentations of youth programme, EVS contract and tips on working in cultural and local environment. The event was organised by Movit, the national Youth in Action agency in Slovenia, and ran by a group of experienced youth trainers.

Young volunteers working in groups

It was a useful opportunity for the 27 EVS volunteers starting their service in Slovenia to get to know each other, share their experiences working in Non-Governmental organisations and talk about their first impressions regarding the cultural, linguistic and other experiences and differences. It was also a chance to build a social and professional network and start working towards building future employment possibilities in a local and European context.

Team building activities

EVS is currently a European Commission’s activity in the Youth in Action programme, helping young people from Europe and programme countries to develop their sense of solidarity by participating, either individually or in group, in non-profit, unpaid voluntary activities abroad. The activities will run from 2014 onwards under Erasmus+, the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport.
