EVS-ESC October 2019 on-arrival training
Volunteers in the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and its EUSA Institute Ms Amelie Bury, Mr Tomasz Olszewski and Ms Zrinka Tabain, participated in the on-arrival training for EVS – ESC (European Volunteer Service – European Solidarity Corps) volunteers currently doing their service in Slovenia. The training took place in Debeli Rtic, near the city of Koper, during 21 - 25 October, 2019.
In ESC mobility programme, financed by the European Union, participants come from EU and programme countries. In the case of this training, the volunteers were from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine.
For 5 days, the 28 volunteers hosted by 14 organisations in Slovenia had a chance to meet each other. They got their questions answered about their European Voluntary Service (EVS) and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) projects and learned more about the Erasmus+ and other EU programmes.
The volunteers exchanged their first impressions of the country, culture, language, as well as work and other experiences. The training was organised by the national Youth Agency in Slovenia Movit and was very interactive. The trainers covered the topics in a flexible and an enthusiastic atmosphere.
The volunteers presented and explained the current projects they are working on, this helped them to get a bigger image if they needed help they can always seek each other.
Next call for long-term ESC possibility in EUSA (term September 2020-August 2021) will be announced in the beginning of 2020. Short-term volunteering opportunities for international volunteers during the 2020 European Universities Games will be opened this December.
