EUC Chess 2019
European Universities Chess Championship

Budapest, Hungary
July 24-28, 2019

The European Universities Chess Competition was held in Budapest, Hungary as a part of the EUSA Mind Sports Championships, with 70 participants from 24 European universities from 14 different countries present.

The competition was organised by the Hungarian University Sports Federation and the University of Physical Education, the host university of the event.

Present on behalf of EUSA in Budapest was EUSA Auditor and Executive Committee member Mr Liviu Matac and Chess Technical Delegate Mr Oleksandr Sulypa.

Russia’s Ural State Mining University were dominant in their displays across the five days, with Daria Voit and Polina Shuvalova helping their university to victory in the Women’s Rapid Team Championship event as teammates Maksim Chigaev and Alexandr Predke claimed gold in the men’s competition.

In the Blitz Individual event, Daria Voit claimed her second gold medal for Ural State Mining University, while in the men’s category, Kirill Shevchenko from Ukraine’s Lviv University emerged victorious.

The next EUSA Chess competition will take place in Belgrade, Serbia at the fifth edition of the European Universities Games.
