European Universities Tennis Championship
Madrid, Spain: July 23-29, 2017
The European Universities Tennis Championship 2017 took place in Madrid, Spain, with the event the welcoming over 110 athletes, composing of 15 university teams, representing 15 European countries.
The event was organised by the University Camilo Jose Cela with the support of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation. EUSA was formally represented by EUSA Honorary Member, Mr Filipe Santos, and by EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Daniel Studer, assisted by Mrs Anastasia Tsouroufili.
In the women’s tournament, the University of Bordeaux (FRA) won the final against the University of Stirling (GBR), gaining the gold medal. In the men’s tournament, the home team of the University of Camilo Jose Cela (ESP) conquered the first place, winning an exciting match against the University of Grenoble Alpes (FRA).
At the conclusion of the competitions, the EUSA flag was lowered and consigned to the representative of the organising committee of the European Universities Games 2018, which will be held in Coimbra, Portugal. The next European Universities Tennis Championship will take place in Podgorica, Montenegro, in 2019.
