Events affected by COVID-19
Amid the current COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak across the globe, several events and activities scheduled between March and May, to which EUSA is affiliated or involved, have either been cancelled or postponed.
The 2020 edition of the SELL Student Games, an event organised under EUSA’s patronage, has been cancelled as a precautionary measure being undertaken due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 36th edition of the Games was set to take place in Lahti, Finland from May 15-17.
Organisers of Israel’s International ASA Games, scheduled to take place from March 22-25, have cancelled this year’s event, with the next edition now set to take place in 2021.
The 2020 FISU Volunteer leaders Academy, due to take place from June 10-16 in Russia, has now been postponed to September.
Following the cancellation of the FISU World University Championships Cross Country in Marrakech, Morocco and the cancellation of the final day of WUC Speed Skating in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, WUC Ski Orienteering, which was due to take place in Rovaniemi, Finland from March 23-27, has also been cancelled.
The European Commission also released a statement announcing an extension of submission deadlines for all Erasmus+ Sport Actions to April 21, as well as applications to the next round of the European Solidarity Corps to May 7.
Apart from international events, many national events organised by our members that were scheduled to take place during March and April are also being cancelled or postponed.
EUSA events currently scheduled to be organised from May onwards are being monitored and evaluated. All relevant information pertaining to these events will be communicated accordingly.
