EUSA Youth exchange participants organize last series of workshops

On 17th of July, EUSA Youth exchange participants organised the last series of workshops during the European Universities Games Debrecen-Miskolc 2024. Two topics were involved: dual career in sports and the impact of fair play.

In Miskolc, the Fair Play workshop atracted new group of volunteers for the day, giving them an extended chance to attend and hear more on this topic.

A group of Polish volunteers taking part in the Youch Exchange Program introduced everyone to the topic of Fair Play. They started with a short warm-up, where the participants got into pairs and had to touch the part of the body that was mentioned by the leaders as quickly as possible. The aim of this task was to show how the language barrier can work in sports.

Then the hosts gave a presentation during which they asked the guests about their own experiences with non-compliance with the Fair Play rules.

In Debrecen, the topic for today's workshop was dual carreer, facilitated by Franciska Coko and Ivana Brnas from Croatia and attended by volunteers at the Debrecen-Miskolc European Universities Games 2024.

The workshop focused on understanding what is a dual career and explored its benefits and challenges. The event kicked off with a group icebreaker and energizer before introducing the topic of Dual Career.

Dual Career refers to the management of two distinct professional careers by a single individual. This is common among athletes, entertainment industry performers, and other professionals who simultaneously pursue careers in different fields. The benefits and challenges of a dual career were explored, highlighting advantages like skill enhancement in diverse areas and multiple income streams. However, challenges included balancing time, maintaining personal life and relationships, and managing workload and pressure.

The group initially engaged in discussions as pairs, then formed groups of four to collaboratively define "Dual Career" and understand its challenges. A key challenge identified was the difficult decisions dual career individuals face when prioritising work over significant personal events like weddings. Many dual career professionals often miss out on important life events with family and friends to prioritise their career progression.

The workshop concluded with a fun crossword activity followed by a group discussion on the essential components of a successful dual career. Participants highlighted the importance of having clear goals, a strong support system, and disciplined organisation.
