EUSA working meetings in Albania

University of Tirana has taken the initiative to revitalize the University Sport in Albania including the reactivation of the Albanian University Sports Association. For this occasion, the European University Sports Association (EUSA) was invited to several meetings with key institutions, including the Albanian Olympic Committee, Ministry of Education and Sport as well as the University of Tirana in order to point out the importance of University sport, youth development and recognition of Albanian University Sport in international organisations, such as EUSA.

EUSA representatives, Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, and Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti visited Tirana from March 27-28, 2017 and were firstly welcomed by Mr Besnik Veliu, Coordinator of Sport Activities at the University of Tirana.

Gift exchange at the Albanian Olympic Committee

The first reception was organized on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Albanian Olympic Committee where EUSA representatives met its President, Mr Viron Bezhani who expressed a great pleasure to welcome the representatives of governing body of European University Sport and presented the support that Albanian Olympic Committee will give to the revitalization of the University Sport in Albania.

Reception at the Ministry

A day after, EUSA Representatives were hosted by Ministry of Education and Sport, where they met Sports Director Mr Vladimir Gjonaj, and by the University of Tirana, where they met the Rector Mr Mynyr Koni. Both institutions confirmed their commitment towards the revitalization of University Sport in Tirana and Albania.

Both Mr Pecovnik and Mr Aliti thanked the hosts and expressed the support of EUSA to further develop University Sport in Albania. EUSA will meet the representatives of Albanian University Sport during the EUSA Conference in Portugal to further discuss next strategic steps.
