EUSA welcomes three new ESC volunteers
European University Sports Association (EUSA) with its Institute welcomed three international European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers into the office, joining the team in Ljubljana for the period of 1 year.
The EUSA staff is pleased to have been joined by Ms Milia Molinie from France, Mr Jan Hussu from Italy and Mr Markus Schneider from Germany. These four young individuals will learn, assist and experience the daily EUSA activities in the EUSA Office and especially work and learn from the process of preparing and executing the 2025 season of European Universities Championships.
Here is a short introduction about our new volunteers:
Milia Molinie
My name is Milia, I am 27 years old and I come from Bordeaux, France. I have always been interested in learning and practicing new languages. I have a double Master degree in international cooperation and development from both universities of Bordeaux, France and Turin, Italy. I have always known I wanted to discover as many working environments as possible, that is why I consider languages as bridges to link one culture to another. I have previous working experiences in social responsibility governance at a locale scale, and I am now happy to join such a multicultural structure as EUSA. I hope this experience will allow me to get to know better and to bring my contribution to sports management, especially through social projects that the organisation carries on. I am a huge fan of sports myself as I played handball for over 10 years, among other things. I would like to thank my sending organisation Maison de l’Europe de Bordeaux, for supporting me thorugh my journey.
Markus Schneider
I’m Markus, 19 years old, born in Germany but also half Brazilian. I’ve always loved working with others, whether it's in group projects or team sports—I just enjoy the energy of being around people. This is why I especially love sports like football, handball, and spikeball, which I regularly play myself. I believe that sports are not only a way to turn strangers into friends but also require respect, equality, and unity—the very values that we need in our beloved Europe.
Through my volunteering, I hope to become more independent, figure out what I’m truly good at, and also stand up for my values. Moreover, I am trying to get a better sense of what I want to study in the future. It feels like an excellent time to explore my interests and see where it all takes me!
Lastly, I am very thankful for the IFD Berlin for working with me as my sending organization and helping me through my volunteering progress!
Jan Hussu
I'm Jan, I'm 25, and I'm from Italy. I study sports management, and I'm passionate about sports. Since childhood, sports have been an important part of my life. I played football and did athletics before turning into football refereeing, where I currently officiate as an assistant referee in the Friuli Venezia Giulia top regional league. Since 2021, sports volunteering and passion for sports events have become an important part of my life. My first volunteering experience was in the volunteer management and media team at Uefa Euro 21 in Slovenia. Later, throughout several sports events, I gained important volunteer positions as an NOC (National Olympic Committee) Assistant at the Winter and Summer European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) and the European Games in Krakow. From these experiences, I've learned a lot about communication, problem-solving, team management, etc., and it has driven me to pursue a career in sports. In my free time, I like cycling, practising, discovering and watching different sports, reading, learning languages (currently Spanish and French), studying and travelling.
I chose to apply at EUSA because I think it is the right place for me to grow professionally and develop new skills in project management, communication, teamwork, sports event management and networking. Furthermore, I'm really happy and pleased to join and work in such an international environment and contribute to the EUSA mission. I would like to thank my sending organisation, ASC Trieste (Associazione Servizio Civile), for supporting me during my journey.
EUSA Institute is an accredited organisation with a Quality Label for the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), previously the European Commission's European Voluntary Service (EVS), financed by the European Union. In Slovenia, the programme is coordinated by the National Agency Movit. If you are a young person (18-30), check out the ESC volunteering opportunities which are available to you!
