EUSA Volunteer Programme 2013
European University Sports Association (EUSA), in cooperation with its Student Commission (EUSA STC) and the Organising Committees of the European Universities Sports Championships and European Universities Games, is offering students from Europe a unique opportunity of actively participating in the organisation of EUSA events as volunteers.
In 2013, students can participate as supporting organisers of the European Universities Championship (EUCs).
You may register at http://volunteers.eusa.eu; the deadline is approximately three month before the event, and you will be notified about your selection a week after the application deadline for a specific event.
The exact application deadlines are as follows:
March 15: EUC Badminton in Upsala, SWE.
March 22: EUC Rugby 7 in Sofia, BUL; EUC Table Tennis in Zonguldak, TUR; EUC Volleyball in Nicosia, CYP; EUC Handball in Katowice, POL; EUC Football in Almeria, ESP
April 15: EUC Karate in Budapest, HUN; EUC Basketball in Split, CRO; EUC Futsal in Malaga, ESP; EUC Beach Volleyball in Porto, POR
May 15: EUC Basketball 3x3 in Rotterdam, NED; EUC Judo in Coimbra, POR; EUC Tennis in Bar, MNE; EUC Rowing in Poznan, POL
June 15:, 2013: EUC Golf in Saint Saens, FRAU; EUC Bridge in Kraljevica, CRO; EUC Taekwondo in Moscow, RUS
The main aim of the Program is to give a chance for young students, who are interested in sports and in organizing sport events, to get the opportunity of experiencing a unique adventure, learning about the values of sport, and gaining valuable work experience through volunteering.
The participants will raise their competencies and skills in organising sport event in the European level, get new experiences in different fields, will be useful for the organising committee, exchange knowledge, learn about the culture of the country, get new friends all over the Europe and much more.
The Volunteer Programme includes for example working for the organising committee, supporting the organizers in the competition fields (global coordination, manning information desks, communication between organization committee and referees, guests).
In the frame of the Volunteer Program, full board is provided during the time of the event (and training), with transfer from the official airport/station covered; volunteers only have to ensure their travel costs to the event.
In the Volunteer Program 2013 there are at least 2 open places per each championship. Only those with academic eligibility in European institutes of higher education can apply (students or graduates). The application form is available online at http://volunteers.eusa.eu. Application deadline is three months before the European University Championship (for the exact application deadlines, please refer to dates above) and EUSA STC will inform all applicants about the results a week after the application deadline. The applicants will get a diploma after participation in the program.
Applicants agree that they will:
1. wait for recruitment results.
2. be available for the period of the applied EUC.
3. cover the travel costs to the event
4. write a feedback about their experiences latest a month after the event.

In 2012, the 1st European University Games were organized between July 13 and 23, 2012 in Cordoba, Spain. It was one of the largest sport events in Europe with over 2500 participants competing in 10 different disciplines: beach volley, badminton, basketball, football, futsal, handball, rugby 7`s, volleyball, table tennis, and tennis. A unique opportunity of actively participating in the organization of this spectacular event was also offered to the volunteers. Out of over 200 applications, 36 individuals from 14 different countries were given the chance to take part and enjoy the volunteering experience.
In 2014, the 2nd European University Games will be organized between 3 and 14 July, 2014 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Student Commission will again look for interested students who would like to volunteer at this multisport student event. The application process for this event will be opened in the beginning of 2014.
