EUSA visits Lodz ahead of EUG2022 registration opening
Following the main part of the EUSA-EUG2022 Convention and Transfer of Knowledge in September in Lodz, representatives of the European University Sports Association and its Institute visited the host city of the next year’s European Universities Games again on November 29 and 30, 2021.
EUSA delegation was composed by Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Sports Manager Mr Miha Zvan and EUG Consultant Mr Besim Aliti, as well as the Technical Delegates for Beach Volleyball, Chess, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing and Taekwondo.
They met with the local organising committee, lead by Mr Dominik Lezanski, reviewing the overall progress reports, and together they also checked some of the accommodation and sports venues.
The event was also an opportunity to meet with the representatives of the City of Lodz, lead by the Vice-Mayor Ms Joanna Skrzydlewska.
The European Universities Games in Lodz will offer competitions in 20 sports: 3x3 Basketball, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball, Chess, Football, Futsal, Handball, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Muaythai, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis (including Para Table Tennis), Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo and Sitting Volleyball as a demo sport. Alongside the sport competitions, the Games focus on educational and social aspects of university sport in Europe, featuring conferences and workshops in the topics Anti-Doping, Dual Career, Inclusion, Volunteering, as well as the Rectors' Conference.
EUSA representatives expressed satisfaction with the overall preparation for the event, and confirmed the opening of the registration on December 15, through the national university sports bodies in Europe.
The EUSA-EUG2022 Convention in Lodz was part of the Unisport project, supporting mobility in sport, co-financed by the European Union.
