On October 9, 2014, during their stay in Riga (LAT), EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik held a meeting with the board members of the Latvian Universities Sports Federation (LASS). EUSA representatives were firstly welcomed by Mrs Agita Abele, LASS President, who presented to the guests all of the participants of the meeting, most of them being sports directors at the universities in Latvia.

After, Ms Ginta Kravale presented the structure and activities of the federation, focusing on international participation of Latvian students and universities on SELL Games, FISU Universiades and European Universities Games.

Latvia has this year significantly increased its participation on EUSA events, bringing 50 students from 4 university teams to the EUG held in Rotterdam. In the continuation of the meeting the participants discussed the funding opportunities, the dual career project and other possibilities for mutual cooperation on the field of university sports, including organisation and participation at some other university sports events in Europe.

At the end of the meeting, Mr Roczek thanked Mrs Abele for the invitation on the meeting and the contribution of LASS to the development of university sports in Europe and presented her the EUSA plaquette.

After the meeting, EUSA President and Secretary General visited the exhibition on university sports in Latvia, opened at the occasion of the European Fair Play Congress in the National Library of Latvia.
