EUSA University Sport Exhibition moves to Koper
EUSA University Sport Exhibition was opened on January 27 in Koper, Slovenia at the Rectorate of the University of Koper where it will be hosted until February 20, 2015.
The official opening of the Exhibition in Koper was done by Mr Adam Roczek, President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the Rector of the University of Koper Mr Dragan Marusic. The opening was attended by the Vice-Mayor of Koper Mr Peter Bolcic, President of the Sport Union of Slovenia Mr Ziga Schmidt, President of the Student Sport Organisation of Primorska Mr Seit Demiri, President of CUSI Trieste and EUSA EC Member Mr Romano Isler. Among the present VIP guests were also the Secretary General of EUSA Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Sports Manager Mr Patrik Perosa, Chair of the EUC Basketball 2015 Mr Marko Juretic and other guests, representatives of the University, City and local partners.
The Rector of the University of Primorska Mr Marusic thanked EUSA and local partners in his speech, expressing his happiness for being able to host the exhibition. As University of Primorska is hosting this year also the European Universities Basketball Championship in Koper. He stressed the fact that the University of Primorska is alma mater to several successful Slovenian athletes and that university sport is a platform for new achievements and great opportunity for new friendships to be made.
The President of EUSA Mr Adam Roczek stressed the fact that the development of university sport has made significant progress in the last years, and that basketball is one of the core parts in EUSA sports competitions. He mentioned that European Universities Basketball Championships are highly reputable among the basketball events in general. Mr Roczek drew parallel comparison between the University of Primorska with the EUSA Basketball Championship - both are vital elements and have grown in the last years.
EUSA Exhibition is a travelling exhibition, supported by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). It started its journey in Rotterdam in July and August 2014, was hosted by the University of Ljubljana in November and December 2014 and will continue its journey on European universities and university sports events in 2015 and beyond.
