EUSA to host EUG2026 Bidding Seminar

The European University Sports Association will later this month host a seminar for the bidding process of the European Universities Games 2026 (EUG2026).

The European Universities Games is a multi-sport university sports competition governed by the European University Sports Association, and represent the largest European multisport student event, combining sport, education and culture over a memorable two-week programme.

Since the first edition held in Cordoba, Spain in 2012, the Games have been organised on a biannual basis. The last edition was held in Coimbra, Portugal in 2018, with the event attracting over 4000 participants representing almost 300 European universities from 38 countries. The next edition of the European Universities Games will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, this summer.

EUG2016

Bidding for the 2026 Games, which will be the 8th edition of this prestigious event, opened on October 1, giving the opportunity to potential hosts to submit their letter of intention within a year ahead of the October 2021 deadline.

Combat sports

The programme for the 2026 edition of the European Universities Games will include the following sports:
- Compulsory (13) - men and women: Badminton, Basketball, 3x3 Basketball, Beach Handball, Beach-Volleyball, Football, Futsal, Handball, Karate, Rowing, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball
- Optional (up to 9) - men and women: other sports in the European Universities Championships programme in the year of attribution (these are currently Chess, Golf, Judo, Kickboxing, Rugby 7s, Sports Climbing, Orienteering, Taekwondo, Water Polo)

Volleyball

A seminar for interested hosts will be conducted by EUSA on Wednesday, March 31 at 3pm CET, where more details about the event and its organisation will be presented.
