EUSA Table Tennis Championship 2017 opens

The Opening Ceremony of European Universities Championship (EUC) in Table Tennis 2017 took place on 21st June at the Palacky University Sports Hall in Olomouc, Czech Republic.

The Ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Olomouc Mr Antonin Stanek, Rector of the Palacky University of Olomouc Mr Jaroslav Miller, Vice-President of EUSA Technical Committee Mr Andrzej Hrehorowicz and many others.

Mr Hrehorowicz, the official EUSA representative, welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills against the best student table tennis players in Europe. He also thanked the Organizing Committee for all their contributions in the creation of the event.

The competition is organized by Palacky University Olomouc and Czech University Sports Association (CAUS), with contribution of Olomouc Region, City of Olomouc and many more.

Organisers

The local organisers proudly emphasised that the first EUSA Championship in Table Tennis was organised back in 2007 in the nearby city of Ostrava. Throughout the years, the local organisers have been involved with multiple Table Tennis events on a local, regional, national, and international level and are clearly passionate about the sport. The local organisers also hold the chair position of the Table Tennis committee in the national university sports association.

EUSA Assistants

The European Universities Table Tennis Championship is taking place between June 21 and 25 in Olomouc. European University Sports Association (EUSA) is represented by Mr Andrzej Hrehorowicz, Technical Delegate Mr Matija Krnc, his assistant Ms Ekaterina Ovysyannikova and EUSA office interns Mr Liam Smith and Ms Matilde Guido. They work closely with the local hosts, making sure the event runs smoothly.

General Technical Meeting

The general technical meeting took place on June 20, where the team competitions were drawn; the event is hosting 20 male and 12 female teams representing different universities from across Europe. The competitions already started, and show that the battle for the champions title will not be an easy one. The title of European Universities Champion is defended by the Russian State University for Humanities in both male and female categories.
