EUSA Supervision visit to Zagreb

EUSA Supervision Committee composed by Mr Kemal Tamer, Mr Arie Rosenzweig, Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and Mr Patrik Perosa visited Zagreb, the host city of the European Universities Games (EUG) 2016. The supervision visit took place from October 6-7, 2014. During the first day, EUSA representatives met with the representatives of the Organising Committee. EUG 2016 was represented by its President Mr Zrinko Custonja, Vice-President Mr Haris Pavletic, Secretary General Mr Marko Zunic, as well as many other collaborators on the project.

Meeting with the Organising Committee and EUSA

The organisers presented the progress report and activity program for this biggest European Sport Event in 2016 to be organised in the cities of Zagreb in Rijeka from July 13-24, 2016. The main areas such as accommodation, transportation, sports program, finances and volunteers were discussed more in details. Participants also discussed the preparation of the EUSA Conference, which will be held from March 26-29, 2015 in Zagreb.

EUSA Supervision Commission welcomed in Zagreb

On the second day, the EUSA Supervision Commission Members visited some of the main venues that will be used for the organisation of the event. The majority of the around 5.000 expected participants will be accommodated in the Student Dormitories in Zagreb. The Organising Committee explained that the renovation of the campus will start next year, while in Rijeka the new campus is expected to be built by the beginning of the event. The catering facilities were visited as well.

Visiting the venues - rowing center Jarun

In the afternoon, the commission also inspected various sports venues in the city of Zagreb, among them also Rowing Centre Jarun where they were welcomed by Mr Josip Kostelic, EUSA Technical Delegate for Rowing. At the end of their stay in Zagreb, the members of the supervision commission also held an internal meeting to prepare the report, which will be presented to the members of EUSA Executive Committee on its next meeting in Coimbra in November 2014.
