EUSA Supervision Commission visits Zagreb preparing for EUG2016

EUSA Supervision Commission composed by Mr Kemal Tamer, Mr Arie Rosenzweig, Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and Mr Patrik Perosa visited Zagreb, the host city of the European Universities Games (EUG) 2016. The supervision visit took place on February 3 and 4, 2016.

The representatives of the Organising Committee, led by Mr Zrinko Custonja, presented the progress report and activity plan for this biggest European Sport Event in 2016 which will be organised in the cities of Zagreb in Rijeka from July 13-24, 2016.

The participants discussed the details of the areas of accommodation, transportation, catering, sports program, security, opening and closing ceremonies, finances, volunteers and social, academic and cultural activities.

During their stay in Zagreb, the EUSA Supervision Commission Members visited also newly renovated Student Dormitories in Zagreb, where participants will be accommodated as well as the venues foreseen for accreditation.

Venues visit

The participants were also informed on the great interest of the universities from all over Europe to take part on the event. Five months before its start, some of the 21 sports on the program are already full, while others are reaching the limits. Interested university teams are therefore strongly encourage to get in contact with their national university sports bodies and complete their registration as soon as possible. Upcoming 2nd deadline for registration is February 15. Over 5000 participants and over 500 university teams are foreseen to take part on the event.

Discussions

The next Supervision Visit will take place on May 9, while from May 10-11, 2016 the meeting of the national coordinators will be held in Zagreb and Rijeka.
